I create and I share. My interests vary too much to narrow it down much further. I write all types of things—non-fiction books and articles, poetry, short stories, flash fiction, and novels. I also create mixed media art, visual poetry, and jewelry. And because I get so excited about the things I learn during my creative journeys, I share and teach design and creativity online, through coaching, and at events.

Creativity is in my bones. I’ve been creating art since I was old enough to draw as well as chew on my crayons. I’ve been writing since a fire savvy racoon inspired my first book at age 9. Sharing my creative journey and promoting the creative output of others started with my foray into literary zines in highschool. And I still do all these things, although creative writing is my most constant love.

After completing my MFA studies in Creative Writing in 1997, I choose to pay my bills as a freelance writer and editor, with small but consistent moments carved out for my poetry and short stories. Then, in the previous decade, I was heavily immersed in the polymer and mixed media arts community, including building a publishing company around polymer art periodicals and books (www.tenthmusearts.com) that took up all my energy. I could hardly find time for my own artwork, much less the writing of stories and poetry. That never sat right with me, as much as I loved the publishing business.

So, as of 2020, I began pouring my passion back into my creative writing. As of late 2021, I’ve completed the rough draft of one standalone novel and have the start of the first book in a trilogy in the works. I’ve also been working on half a dozen short stories, a collection of poetry, and I started a new blog - This Creative Habit - where I explore the journeys, methods, and magic that lead to a thriving creative life.

I am beyond thrilled to be creating so madly again!

In the spare times between the writing projects, I craft mixed media mosaics, photo hunt for my visual poetry, and live an adventurous life philosophizing with my better half, an artist and animation director, goofing with the dogs, cooking, hiking, and hitting the road in my camper van conversion.
